Many of the questions you have about your account may be answered by first reading the documentation for your contol panel.

Not certain what control panel you have: an easy way to tell is by the port number you use to access your control panel. Plesk users access their control panel with the port no. :8443 (e.g. https://yourdomain.com:8443) while CPanel users access their control panel with the port no. :2082 (e.g. http://yourdomain.com:2082) The port no. will be in your account setup email.
Also, all accounts created after the 01st October 2003 will be on the CPanel control panel, unless you specifically ask for your account to be placed on the Plesk control panel.
